Two key concepts define the proposal for the Oasis 2 urban block: creation of the intimate internal space within the block that enables development of a genuine community and integration of the block into the context defined by the masterplan.
While keeping a strong sense of central organization of the ensemble around the internal courtyard, the built structure of the block is broken into three major chunks allowing the open public space to flow into the block and connect to the rest of the plan. The relation between the building block and its context is further made more complex by differentiation in height of the buildings, which enabled a variety of sunlight angles into the inner part of the block.
The courtyard is programmed as a playground. Proposed ground floor units with their private gardens provide sufficient social control and add to the neighborhood spirit.
The community is further strengthened by the introduction of the elevated communal spaces resulting from the incisions into the urban block volume. They add to the intimacy of the community and further fine-tune the relation between private, communal and public realms. Controlled openness of the block, given critically high requested urban density is also crucial for optimization of the relation between the proposed urban structure and its genuinely rural context. Visually and spatial connected two extreme spatial environments together create spatial constellation that has the potential to develop and mature through time.
The facade concept, based on the windows stretching from floor to ceiling, aimed at amplification of the relation between interiors of the apartments and outdoor space, enabling stronger connection between the residents and the context they live in.
